On this day in 1532, Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro trapped the emperor of the Inca Empire, Atahualpa. Pizarro invited Atahualpa to a banquet where he then captured him before eventually killing the emperor, who refused to accept Spanish rule, in July of the following year.
