On this day in 1850, the first National Women’s Rights Convention was held in Worcester, Massachusetts. This convention featured speakers such as Lucretia Mott, Sojourner Truth and Frederick Douglass. One of the issues discussed at the convention was granting women the right to vote.

Learn about women have wielded their ballots in the 100 years since the 19th Amendment ushered in women’s suffrage.

I was visiting in the Portland, Maine area when I saw the much-photographed Portland Head Light at Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth. A friend showed me a good vantage point for photographing the lighthouse at sunset.
